Puffy Fried Dough

This delicious puffy fried dough recipe only takes 20 minutes. They will bless your breakfast table in no time! Happy cooking!
Tips from the Author
  • The oil in the pan must be at least 1 cm deep.
  • Make sure that the frying oil is hot before you start frying the dough.

Ingredients
  • 1 Egg
  • 200 ml Yoghurt
  • 40 ml Vegetable oil
  • 10 g Baking Powder
  • 350 g Flour
  • 3 tsp Salt
Instructions
  1. Mix the egg, vegetable oil, baking powder, yoghurt and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Add the flour on top and knead the dough until all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. The dough you get must be non-sticky.
  3. Roll out the dough you prepared on the counter (you can use a few sprinkles of extra flour to help you roll easier) until it is a few millimetres thick and cut the rolled dough into similar sized squares.
  4. Heat up the oil in a large pan. When the oil is hot enough, start frying the dough squares in batches.
  5. Fry each side of the squares until they become golden. Remove and place them in a dish covered with paper towels to soak the remaining oil.
  6. Repeat this until all the dough squares are fried.
